Those who are familiar with prog, will agree with me that the 'genre' comes in different disguises (read: subgenres). ![]() From ProgArchives I used 172,707 ratings and from RateYourMusic no less than 557.961! So, using a total of 730,668 ratings, I think I might say that the result is pretty much 'objective'. Using these ratings from both sites made it easier for me to select and rank the 'right' albums. Selecting one album per act was not always easy, but my selection (and the ranking) were based on the databases RateYourMusic and ProgArchives, that both publish ratings. From each act included, I only selected one album, which means that there are also 650 different acts represented in the meantime. During two weeks (in January 2017) I've been working on this massive list, which contains the best 650 progressive rock and metal albums of all times. ![]()
